Academic vs. Enrichment Classes: What's the difference?

Atomic Art: Phase Two

Instructor: Ann Martin

This class will explode with creative fun! We will continue to create original works of art by using home made and recycled products. Last session, we made our own homemade paint, beads, paper mache, and more. This session we will continue the messy fun! This session we will tie dye , make our own stamps for stamping fun, make paper, and so much more. Come join the fun. Experience numerous art mediums over the next 12 weeks.

Drawing and Rendering I and II

Instructor: Karine Bauch

Karine Bauch of Masterpiece Art Instruction will teach young students to draw and render in a variety of mediums, including pastels, graphite, charcoal, ink and paint. Subject matter will include landscapes, still life, and animals. Color theory and drawing in perspective will be explored. Creative projects will be interspersed with technique study to develop many areas of expression. Some art history will be presented along with the creation of a reproduction of a famous painting. Karine draws right along with the students, using a step-by-step method that insures that everyone comes home with a successful project. Proper technique is taught from the earliest age and reinforced through all levels.

Note: The projects and lessons are new every semester.

    • Level 1: 2-4 (Students must be fully 7 years old on 2/1/10. No exceptions, please.)
    • Level 2: 5-8
    • There will be a combined class of Level 1 and 2 at 12:15 PM

Advanced Drawing Class

Instructor: Karine Bauch

Karine Bauch of Masterpiece Art Instruction will challenge older students with creative projects that will cause them to think conceptually and design their own compositions. Students will warm up with drawing exercises with an emphasis on portraiture and human anatomy. Group analysis of each other's work will be encouraged. Join this unique class if you are willing to be pushed to greatness!

Wood Carving I and II

Instructor: Shelly Weiser

Learn relief woodcarving and experience an art form rarely taught to children. Mr. Shelly has won international wood carving contests and will share his love for wood carving and expertise with the kids. Hand woodcarving is an old and respected craft. Students will complete at least one project by the end of the course with potential to create more. We will work with gouge hand tools (no knives). Student safety is the top priority. Wood and tools are supplied. Advanced wood tools can be purchased as skill level increases--to be gauged by the instructor. Kids love creating and will love to learn this art by an expert in the field.

Note: New students pay an additional $25 on the first day for tools. Returning students are to use their tools from the last class.

* Deposits must be paid online at the time of registration. They are non-refundable and non-transferable. They include a $5 tuition deposit and a supply fee, which is why they are different for each class.
